Job description
About The Role

We’re looking for a thoughtful, versatile Product Designer to join The Telegraph’s Product Design team. You’ll work across our app and web platforms, helping shape how millions of readers experience The Telegraph digitally.

You’ll be involved across the full design process — from discovery and exploration through to high‑fidelity design and delivery — balancing user needs, editorial goals and business requirements.

This role suits a designer with a few years’ experience who’s ready to take more ownership, lead smaller initiatives, and continue developing their skills in a collaborative and ambitious environment. You’ll contribute to key projects that define the reader experience, as well as supporting our Design System and mentoring more junior team members.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design end-to-end user journeys, from concepts and flows through to detailed UI, prototypes and specifications.
  • Lead smaller projects or distinct phases within larger initiatives, ensuring smooth delivery and alignment.
  • Collaborate with product managers, engineers, editors and stakeholders to define problems and explore solutions.
  • Apply a user‑centred, evidence‑based approach — using research, testing and data to inform decisions.
  • Create high‑fidelity designs, motion and interaction patterns in Figma that meet accessibility and brand standards.
  • Present work and rationale clearly to teammates and stakeholders, both verbally and in writing.
  • Give and receive constructive feedback through critiques and design reviews.
  • Work closely with developers to ensure accurate implementation of your designs.
  • Contribute to and evolve The Telegraph Design System, ensuring consistency across platforms.
  • Support junior designers through informal guidance and collaboration.
About You
  • A designer with strong product thinking, a user‑first mindset and attention to detail.
  • Confident working independently within a brief, while knowing when to seek guidance.
  • Comfortable leading parts of projects and managing your own timelines.
  • Collaborative and communicative — able to build relationships across design, product and engineering.
  • Curious, pragmatic and motivated to grow your craft and influence.
  • Interested in journalism and how design can elevate storytelling and digital publishing.
Essential Skills and Experience
  • Professional experience as a product or digital designer (ideally 2–4 years).
  • Portfolio demonstrating user‑centred design, solid UI craft and measurable impact.
  • Proficiency in Figma and an understanding of design system principles.
  • Knowledge of accessibility, usability and responsive design best practice.
  • Confident in presenting ideas and rationale to stakeholders.
  • Comfortable working in agile, cross‑functional teams and iterative design processes.
Useful Skills
  • Experience in subscriptions, publishing, media or e‑commerce products.
  • Familiarity with experimentation or optimisation methods (A/B testing, multivariate).
  • Exposure to user research and the ability to translate insights into design improvements.
  • Ability to create supporting assets such as icons, illustrations or animations.
What you’ll gain
  • The opportunity to work on products used daily by millions of readers.
  • A collaborative, design‑mature environment where craft and impact both matter.
  • A chance to help define the next generation of Telegraph digital experiences — across web, app and beyond.
