Job description
Overview

This mid‑level role, supported by the Principal Designer, will drive design within their squad and collaborate across Product, Design and Engineering. They will use foundations of discovery and data‑driven delivery to build solutions that get Pet Health Club members engaging with us in new ways and help our clinic professionals deliver healthier outcomes to more pets. The technology teams operate from digital hubs in London, Bristol, Stockholm and Porto, and we are a remote‑first team working together to shape a new era in pet health. We are backed by some of the world’s leading investment groups and have operations in the UK, Europe and North America.

Key Responsibilities
  • Gain understanding: while you are not expected to have prior knowledge of the veterinary/pet health industry, you will conduct user research to better understand our clients (pet owners), our patients (the pets) and our wonderful healthcare professionals (the vets).
  • Drive outcomes: you’ll get stuck in, finding quick wins and/or big opportunities, forming a hypothesis, brainstorming, experimenting, gathering insights, prototyping, discussing with partners, iterating, incrementing and repeating.
  • Champion user‑centred principles: use your understanding and practice, combined with your creative skills, to craft solutions that address user needs, pain points and preferences.
  • Think Big, Test Small: think about end‑to‑end solutions, balancing creative ambition with iterative thinking and feasibility, learning what works and getting feedback on the approach quickly.
  • Present with context: explain the strategic thought behind creative decisions to partners across departments, some of whom may be unfamiliar with product strategy and design.
What are you expected to bring to the team?
Essentials
  • Experience: you have spent time creating and shipping intuitive digital experiences, with the portfolio to back it up.
  • Craft: strong UX, UI and interaction skills; the ability to identify a user problem and take it from concept to high‑fidelity solution.
  • Team player: you exhibit kindness, humility and authenticity, seek to understand your teammates, assume good intentions, bring your best self to work and challenge others to do the same.
  • Communication: good verbal and written communication skills, a passion for connecting with users, giving honest and actionable feedback to colleagues, and communicating the intent behind your work – why it is the right thing to build.
  • Growth mindset: you constantly seek opportunities to improve your craft, collaboration and product outcomes, take initiative and ask questions about how we can do better together.
  • Toolkit: you are proficient with Figma, have worked with a Design System and built prototypes to bring experiences to life.
Preferable, but not necessary
  • Previous experience in healthcare.
  • Experience designing on top of and around legacy systems.
  • Up to speed with variables, auto‑layout and Figma’s power features.
Who will you be working with?

Reporting directly to Kieron‑Scott Woodhouse (Head of Design, Clinics), this is a key role within our newly formed Care Delivery Team. This team will be primarily accountable for ensuring our medical practitioners are able to serve their patients in an efficient and effective manner, ensuring a high quality of care throughout the journey. The team will collaborate with other teams in the clinic space, focusing on other aspects of medical care, receptionist experience, practice manager needs, central operations and more.
