Job summary

Honeywell Ex-Or in Haydock is seeking an experienced Hardware Design Engineer to lead the development of lighting control products, including analogue, power electronics and digital circuits.

You will manage documentation, coordinate EMC and LVD testing, support Product Manager and Technical Sales, and help with component obsolescence, with occasional on-site work.

The role requires meticulous attention to detail and a structured product design process.

Qualifications

• A deep understanding of electronics fundamentals including transistors and op-amps.
• Enthusiasm, resourcefulness, and immaculate attention to detail with a methodical approach.
• Ability to take a project from concept through to production with minimal supervision.
• Capability to work to a structured product design and development process.
• Experience of high volume design for manufacture.
• Knowledge of installation wiring practices.
• Good written English skills.

Responsibilities

• New product design and existing product improvement and evolution.
• Hardware design across analogue, power electronics and digital circuits.
• Maintenance of documentation.
• External EMC and LVD product testing and certification.
• Internal technical support to Product Manager and Technical Sales Support Team, including writing technical material and proofreading.
• Value engineering and dealing with component obsolescence.
• Problem solving for manufacturing and occasional on-site presence.

Our Ex-Or business is part of our Electrical Devices & Systems (ED&S) Division. At Ex-or we manufacture lighting controls for all applications including, presence detection, lighting management systems, architectural dimming and scene-setting and emergency lighting testing systems. Ex-Or systems help customers achieve energy savings, reduce fuel bills, and create a optimum environment for staff or visitors.

Ex-Or's sophisticated presence detection technology, which forms the basis of its stand-alone LightSpot range and the networked MLS Digital system, is used extensively in the public and private sector, enhancing the working environment and saving organisations millions of pounds each year by reducing energy bills.

At our Exor site in Haydock, we are seeking an experienced Hardware Design Engineer for development of lighting control products.

The role will include:

• New product design and existing product improvement and evolution
• Hardware â— analogue, power electronics and digital circuits
• Maintenance of documentation
• External EMC and LVD product testing and certification
• Internal technical support to Product Manager and Technical Sales Support Team, including some generation of written technical material and proof reading
• Value engineering and dealing with component obsolescence
