Job summary

A specialist product designer and manufacturer in Caerphilly is seeking a Product Design Engineer to join their permanent team. The ideal candidate will possess a relevant qualification and have at least 3 years' experience in a Design or CAD operation role, adept in using 3D CAD software like AutoCAD and SolidWorks. Responsibilities include concept design, technical drawings, and liaising with clients and manufacturers. A strong capability in managing time and communication is essential for success in this role.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years' experience in a similar Design / CAD Operation position.
• Previous experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Experienced with Finite Element Analysis (FEA).

Responsibilities

• Using CAD for concept design and producing technical drawings.
• Liaising with manufacturing providers.
• Updating 3D models and drawings.

LOCATION: Caerphilly

TERM: Permanent

SALARY: GBP 28,000 : GBP 32,000, dependent on experience

My client is a specialist product designer and manufacturer. They are looking for a Product Design Engineer to join their team in Caerphilly on a permanent basis.

Attributes

• Degree / HNC / HND / BTEC / NVQ qualified in Design, Engineering or similar
• Minimum of 3 years' experience in a similar Design / CAD Operation position
• Experienced working with metal, wood and extruded materials
• Previous experience in a similar role in a manufacturing environment
• Be proficient using 3D CAD software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks etc.
• Experience working with FEA
• Have the ability to work well alone as well as part of a small multi‑disciplinary team
• Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
• Proficient using MS Office
• Excellent organisational skills and time management skills

The Product Design Engineer Role Will Involve

• Using CAD for concept design and producing technical drawings
• Producing fabrication drawings to bespoke requirements
• Communicating directly with clients to determine requirements
• Liaising with manufacturing providers
• Being involved in final assembly of products
• Creating the required documentation for design as well as project reports / plans
• Updating 3D models and drawings
• Checking drawings for sign off
• Working in a small multi‑disciplinary team on varied projects
