Job summary

Science and Technology Facilities Council seeks a Senior Product Assurance Specialist to lead product assurance on assigned space projects at RAL Space. You will manage subsystems and suppliers, ensuring processes, records, dependability, safety, EEE components and QA measures, and act as PA liaison to customers and suppliers.

We value strong communication, meticulous time management and ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team; travel to Europe is expected.

Qualifications

  • Experience as a Space Product Assurance Manager (desirable for experience in managing external PA Managers)
  • Strong record of professional development
  • Understanding of the key physical and engineering challenges of building equipment to operate in space
  • Excellent written & oral communication
  • Evidence of effective time management and prioritisation
  • Be willing and able to travel to Europe
  • Evidence of working effectively as part of a broad multi-disciplinary (including Product Assurance) team

  • Ensure the required activities are followed to provide control and records of materials and processes, dependability, safety, EEE components, and quality assurance measures.
  • PA Manager is the formal point of contact with end customers (national and international space agencies) and suppliers on all PA matters of the subsystem/sub-suppliers.

Salary: Band E (S1) £58,346 per annum.

Contract Type: Open ended.

Location: Science and Technology Facilities Council, Rutherford Appleton Laboratory, Harwell, Oxfordshire.

About the Role

The RAL Space Product Assurance Group is looking to appoint a Senior Product Assurance Specialist. You will be responsible for all Product Assurance requirements on their assigned project(s). This may include managing subsystem(s) and their suppliers or piece part suppliers. You will be responsible for ensuring that the required activities are followed to provide appropriate control and records of materials and processes, dependability, safety, EEE components, and quality assurance measures. The PA Manager is the formal point of contact with the end customers (national and international space agencies) and suppliers on all Product Assurance matters of the subsystem/sub-suppliers.

Shortlisting Criteria

(Please note the below criteria will be assessed at Shortlisting or Interview stage as indicated)

  • Experience as a Space Product Assurance Manager (highly desirable for experience in managing external PA Managers)
    • Including (but not limited to): NRB chairpersonship, gateway chairing, declared list authorship etc.
  • A strong record of professional development
  • Understanding of the many key physical and engineering challenges of building equipment to operate in space
  • Excellent written & oral communication
  • Evidence of effective time management and prioritisation
  • Evidence of thoroughness and attention to detail
  • Be willing and able to travel to Europe
  • Evidence of working effectively as part of a broad multi-disciplinary (including Product Assurance) team
