Procurement Programme Leader: NPI & Transfers

Job summary

GKN Aerospace is seeking a senior Procurement Programme Lead based at our Cowes site. You will lead a team of project managers, buyers and senior buyers to plan and execute procurement transfers and new programme introductions in line with cost, delivery and quality targets.

You will travel to other company sites as required, ensuring adherence to the transfer of work gate process and maintaining strong relationships with suppliers and internal customers.

Qualifications

• Educated to degree level or equivalent in business administration or related field, or significant procurement experience.
• Possession or pursuit of MCIPS certification.
• Pursuing or holding a Project Management qualification (APM/PMI/MBA).
• Experience leading procurement projects in aerospace manufacturing.
• Proven ability to lead and mentor a high-performing team.
• Strong commercial sense and negotiation skills.
• Excellent relationship management with customers and suppliers.
• Ability to manage change and assess risk effectively.
• Willingness to travel, possibly internationally.
• Solid understanding of procurement and supply chain processes.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a high performing procurement team.
• Own procurement transfer of work projects (minor and major).
• Interface procurement with site programmes and customers.
• Manage supplier RFQ processes using e-sourcing tools.
• Monitor transfer project performance and report progress.
• Own change control for programmes/projects.
• Actively manage risk, issues, and opportunities on transfers.
• Build strong supplier relationships to ensure customer satisfaction.
• Serve as escalation point for active projects.
• Maintain the Project Register and align with BMS standards.
• Adhere to procurement standards and contribute to process improvements.
• Sign off on ToW gate 0, 1 & 2 as required.
• Identify and pursue cost-reduction opportunities linked to site targets.
• Define supplier sourcing and development strategy aligned with group aims.

Education

Degree in Business Administration or related

MCIPS

PM Qualification (APM/PMI/MBA)

Aerospace project management experience

Leadership of high-performing teams

Commercial acumen and negotiation

Relationship management with customers and suppliers

Change and risk management

Travel willingness (international)
