Job description
Overview

Procurement Officer – Full time, contract until 31 December 2026. Location: Flexible (Selby, Northampton, London, Ipswich). Salary: GBP 30,000–GBP 35,000 depending on experience. Closing date: 14 November.

Who we are: We generate dispatchable, renewable power and create stable energy in an uncertain world. We aim to become the global leader in sustainable biomass and carbon removals, building on our heritage and ambition.

You'll be joining a team of practical doers, future thinkers and business champions. We enable a zero carbon, lower cost energy future and work to decarbonise the planet for generations to come.

About the role

As a procurement professional with strategic experience, you will join a dynamic and supportive team where your ideas and initiative are valued. You will build strong, collaborative relationships with internal teams and external stakeholders, helping to shape procurement excellence across the business.

This is a fast-paced role requiring accuracy and the ability to meet tight deadlines. You will ensure compliance with policies and procedures to drive commercial success while supporting the delivery of the procurement strategy.

You will support the team by:

  • Leading and delivering robust tendering, negotiation, and contract management activities, while fostering strong supplier partnerships.
  • Assessing external spend with a strategic lens, balancing risk, value and cost to support business goals.
  • Collaborating with internal stakeholders to ensure procure-to-pay processes and policies run smoothly and efficiently.
  • Proactively managing supplier relationships to maximise value for Drax, in collaboration with the Supplier Relationship and Performance team.

If you are drawn to a busy commercial environment and eager to work in an engineering-based procurement role across projects involving mechanical, electrical, and civil disciplines, this could be the perfect fit for you.

Who we’re looking for

You should have a good understanding of procurement principles and end-to-end procurement processes, with excellent stakeholder management skills. You are a sharp communicator with initiative and confidence, unafraid to challenge the status quo and ask the right questions. This is a great opportunity to grow, stretch your skills, and learn from a high-performing, collaborative team. Our procurement function is central to everything we do, and we’re proud of the culture we’ve built.

If you have a CIPS/Project Management qualification, that’s great; however, demonstrable experience and strong performance in a similar role would also be welcome.

Rewards and benefits

As you help shape the future, we’ve designed rewards and benefits to help you thrive and support your lifestyle. If successful in this role you’ll receive:

  • A discretionary bonus depending on company performance
  • Private healthcare
  • SAYE (Sharesave): discretionary scheme from time to time
  • Personal accident cover
  • Group personal pension plan with up to 10% employer contribution
  • Holiday entitlement: 25 days plus bank holidays
  • Reimbursement of annual membership cost for one relevant professional body
