Responsible for checking details of nutrition specifications

Updating recipes with specifications for the All-Wales Menu Framework

Work closely with the Procurement team members and wider range of stakeholders

Attend meetings to support the work of the All-Wales Menu Framework

Main duties of the job

To work as a member of the Procurement team and be responsible for ensuring that food procured by the NHS in Wales complies with the All-Wales Nutrition and Catering Standards for Food and Fluid for Hospital Inpatients. To work autonomously to provide specific evidenced based nutrition information and advice to the procurement service. Assist Health Boards in Wales to maintain full compliance with the All-Wales Nutrition and Catering Standards for Food and Fluid for Hospital Inpatients. To be competent in the use of Information Technology relating to relevant nutritional analysis programmes and be responsible for undertaking nutritional analysis of recipes for the All-Wales Menu framework. Be responsible for the timely updating and ongoing review of the centralised All Wales Menu database and website. Play a key role in improved patient outcomes through improved nutritional content of food procured for use by the NHS in Wales Develop an approach for identifying non-contract compliance and to work with the Commodity Manager to identify product areas that lend themselves to product rationalisation and standardisation to improve purchasing performance. Providing information to support those managing change to alternative products Establish an ingredient and menu database for use by Health Boards and trusts that reflects products available through nationally agreed contracts.
