Overview

We have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Retail Procurement Manager to join the Tesco procurement team. This role will require an extensive retail procurement category background with particular strengths and experience in the consumables, category planning, and stakeholder management.

This is an exciting time to join the Tesco Retail Procurement team as we have developed strong working relationships with the Retail Leadership Team and are conducting service reviews to create our next long-term strategy.

This role will be pivotal in delivering commercial excellence to support challenging business budgets, with the opportunity for individual development with exposure to fast-moving transformational projects.

You will be responsible for
  • To develop, write and deliver procurement strategies for the services and products you are responsible for.
  • Manage the opportunities and risk of your category.
  • Manage and deliver great value contracts to support Tesco priorities.
  • Manage supplier relationships by tracking supplier performance, leading supplier reviews, and acting as an escalation point for contract-related issues.
  • Developing and ensure strong working relationships with the stakeholder base (internally at Tesco and external suppliers) to understand and influence requirements.
  • Develop and implement projects through strategic sourcing, which truly support the Tesco transformation cost saving initiatives, delivering quality work in a timely manner.
  • Drive continuous improvement across the existing supply base by challenging suppliers to deliver enhanced performance, innovation, and value.
  • Be the go-to person for retail teams on the development of the consumables strategy.
  • Review existing and potential new suppliers and assess their sustainability to supply Tesco, minimising risk, and optimising service.
You will need
  • Strong commercial acumen, negotiation skills and strategic thinking.
  • Great interpersonal skills and experience of cross functional working & stakeholder engagement.
  • Proven track record of delivering change through influencing and challenging the norm.
  • A character with drive and resilience.
  • High standards of ethics and personal integrity and development of self and others.
  • At least three years procurement / buying experience preferably in Retail.
