Job summary

Laing O'Rourke is seeking an experienced Procurement Manager to join the team on Project Letchmore Heath Power Station. The role focuses on procuring subcontract packages, materials, plant and services to support successful delivery.

You will coordinate with Project, Commercial, Engineering and Construction teams to develop the procurement strategy and ensure on-time, cost-effective supply of resources for the project.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in a Procurement Manager or senior procurement role.
• Experience procuring subcontract packages, materials, plant and specialist services.
• Strong commercial and contractual awareness.
• Excellent negotiation and supplier-management skills.
• Experience working within a project-based construction or engineering environment.
• Ability to manage multiple procurement packages and competing priorities.
• Strong communication skills and the confidence to work with project teams, senior management, suppliers and subcontractors.
• Proactive approach with a strong focus on programme, cost, quality and delivery.

Responsibilities

• Developing and managing procurement schedules in line with the overall project programme.
• Managing enquiries, tendering, bid analysis and supplier/subcontractor selection.
• Negotiating commercial terms, pricing and contractual conditions.
• Placing and managing purchase orders and subcontract packages.
• Identifying long-lead items and ensuring procurement activities support key programme dates.
• Developing and maintaining strong relationships with suppliers and subcontractors.
• Monitoring supplier performance, lead times and delivery commitments.
• Working closely with the Commercial team to achieve best value while maintaining quality and programme requirements.
• Identifying procurement risks and opportunities and implementing appropriate mitigation measures.
• Ensuring procurement activities comply with company procedures, project requirements and relevant contractual obligations.
