Overview

Procurement Manager | £55k to £65k | Rotherham (on-site)

A leading engineering and manufacturing business in Rotherham is seeking an experienced Procurement Manager to take ownership of procurement strategy and drive commercial improvement across the supply chain. Reporting to the Head of Commercial and Supply Chain, this pivotal role will shape the direction of procurement activity - overseeing supplier relationships, category strategy and stock management to ensure exceptional value, service, and efficiency.

Responsibilities
  • Actively lead the Head office Procurement team in line with the goals of the wider Business strategy.
  • Development of product category strategies aligned with business needs, building a supply chain capable of delivering the desired customer service levels, at competitive costs.
  • Drive savings by developing and applying various strategies such as volume leverage, supplier concentration, and negotiate prices, shipping schedules and other terms as required.
  • Development of collaborative long-term partnerships with suppliers, ensuring our products meet our Engineering requirements.
  • Drive cost improvements across the supply chain through continuous review and revision.
  • Development of a strategy with key stakeholders within the business on inventory management and ensure the MRP system reflects the strategy.
  • Monitor and evaluate supplier performance against metrics for price, quality, delivery, and customer service.
  • Implementation of appropriate department KPI's and measure and monitor performance against these.
  • Ensure that procurement activity is compliant with all relevant regulatory and best practice frameworks ie. ISO9001 / 27001.
  • International trade compliance, including understanding of export control compliance, denied party screening, export license requirements.
Person Specification
Essential
  • Degree qualified in a relevant discipline.
  • Competent in all Microsoft Office applications, with strong proficiency in Excel.
  • Proven experience within an international procurement or supply chain role.
  • Working knowledge of international trade and related compliance requirements.
  • Experience working in a customer-focused environment with a strong service ethos.
  • Self-motivated, enthusiastic, and proactive in identifying and solving problems.
  • Creative thinker, contributing to continuous improvement across processes and systems.
  • Strong communicator with the ability to influence and engage at all levels.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop, motivate, and support team members.
  • Capable of working independently and under pressure to meet tight deadlines.
  • Adaptable and able to promote, embrace, and manage organisational change.
  • Committed to maintaining a positive and collaborative working environment.
Desirable
  • CIPS (or equivalent) Diploma in Procurement & Supply (Level 4 or above), or currently working towards a Professional Diploma in Procurement & Supply.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and drive informed decision-making.
  • Experience using SAP or similar ERP/MRP systems.
  • Proven ability to manage and resolve challenging supply chain issues effectively.
  • Strong leadership qualities, with the ability to inspire and develop others.
  • Entrepreneurial and commercially minded approach to management.
