Job Description: Procurement Manager / Contract Manager

Role Overview

This role is responsible for leading the full commercial and contractual lifecycle of high-value, complex contracts within the renewable energy and infrastructure sectors. The role drives strategic commercial outcomes, ensures contractual compliance, mitigates risk, and optimises supplier and project performance across solar and BESS (Battery Energy Storage System) portfolios. This position requires a proactive leader with deep expertise in FIDIC, NEC3, and NEC4 frameworks, and a proven ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams to support the successful delivery of major projects.

Key Responsibilities
Commercial & Contract Management
  • Lead end-to-end commercial contract management across multi-million-pound infrastructure, turbine supply, and construction contracts.
  • Oversee contract strategy, tendering, procurement, implementation, performance management, and claims resolution.
  • Ensure contractual requirements align with project timelines, CAPEX budgets, deliverables, and organisational objectives.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for contract timeframes, commercial impacts, cost management, and payment schedules.
Contract Strategy & Value Optimisation
  • Develop and implement contract strategies that maximise commercial value and mitigate organisational risk.
  • Lead competitive tendering strategies for supply and service contracts, ensuring optimal cost, quality, and performance outcomes.
  • Drive strategic framework development to support efficient commercial operations across UK, Ireland.
Tendering, Negotiation & Supplier Management
  • Lead high-stakes commercial negotiations with suppliers, delivering effective solutions that balance project and organisational objectives.
  • Manage supplier performance and ensure compliance with contractual obligations, including liquidated damages and bonus mechanisms.
  • Provide expert commercial consultancy to internal and external stakeholders, including OPEX and risk management support.
Risk, Performance & Data-Driven Insights
  • Identify, analyse, and mitigate commercial and operational risks through cross-functional collaboration with engineering, finance, legal, procurement, and asset management teams.
  • Conduct detailed commercial performance analysis and interpret complex contractual obligations to guide decision‑making.
  • Develop and implement digital tools to enhance performance reporting, reliability analysis, and commercial forecasting.
Stakeholder Engagement & Collaboration
  • Work closely with procurement, legal, construction, and senior management to ensure contracts are executed to the highest standard.
  • Maintain routine engagement with internal control functions to support alignment with business requirements and organisational strategy.
  • Provide regular commercial reporting and performance insights to leadership teams.
