Job summary

Sizewell C Company is seeking a Procurement Manager to join the Civil Works Alliance (CWA) in supporting the Sizewell C project. You will lead procurement strategy, engage with supply chains, ensure compliance with nuclear regulations, and drive value through robust supplier management.

In this role you will manage a team of procurement professionals, deliver market analysis, and contribute to local SME engagement and community initiatives, with a strong emphasis on zero harm and best-value

Qualifications

  • Experience in construction procurement and interfaces.
  • Ability to deliver robust procurement strategies.
  • Measured decision making and best-value procurement.
  • Ability to focus on targets and work under tight deadlines.
  • MCIPS or chartership with CIOB/RICS or similar.
  • Experience within nuclear/regulated environments is advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Implement procurement strategy as directed by the senior procurement manager.
  • Deliver project procurement objectives and requirements.
  • Support tendering, market analysis, supplier selection, risk and opportunity assessments, forecasting requirements.
  • Provide market intelligence, cost advice and supply chain performance feedback.
  • Support a team of procurement professionals, including training and staff development.
  • Oversee procurement of subcontractors, materials, plant and services in line with project strategy.
  • Contribute to local SME engagement and Meet the Buyer events.
  • Develop Local Sustainable Procurement Plan with parent company input.
  • Provide management information and reports on procurement performance.

Job description

Procurement Manager Opportunity with the Civil Works Alliance (CWA), Supporting Sizewell C

As part of the CWA (Civil Works Alliance), you will support the building of Sizewell C. Sizewell C will be a 3.2-gigawatt power station generating low-carbon electricity for around 6 million homes and will play a key role in our energy future, supplying reliable, clean electricity for at least 60 years.This role will be within theMarine and Tunnels Section.

What will you do?

The purpose of the role is to deliver the best-in-class procurement service through the development and implementation of procurement strategies in accordance with agreed procurement policies and processes. Engaging with the supply chain to deliver an enhanced level of value to the Sizewell C project and achievement of its commitments to stakeholders and local communities.

Principal Accountabilities, Activities and Decisions

  • Implement procurement strategy as directed by the senior procurement manager
  • Responsible for the delivery of project procurement objectives and requirements
  • Supporting the procurement and estimating teams with tendering, market analysis, supplier selection, risk and opportunity assessments, forecasting requirements
  • To provide market intelligence / cost advice / supply chain performance management and feedback
  • To support a team of procurement professionals, including training & development; staff appraisals; retention & reward; and recruitment to provide an effective procurement service for the project.
  • To be responsible and accountable for the procurement process of subcontractors, materials, plant and services, in accordance with the project procurement strategy and SZC commitments.
  • To provide an ethical and consistent approach to the procurement of goods and services and ensuring compliance with the project governance and procurement best practice throughout the process to meet current legislation and nuclear regulations.
  • Develop the project supplier database linked to Compete For – Include market assessments; track effectiveness of engagement; prequalification status; and bid support performance.
  • To monitor markets and where appropriate, provide alternative procurement strategies to maximise opportunities or minimise risk.
  • To be accountable for the provision of management information and reports in accordance with project requirements.
  • Contribute to managing and monitoring the supply chain performance for the project throughout the work package life cycle.
  • Develop professional, robust and effective working relationships with suppliers, sub-contractors and service providers, who will provide best value to SZC.
  • Assist in the development of local, diverse and SME engagement strategies assist in hosting Meet the Buyer Events and community advertising.
  • Lead the development of the Local Sustainable Procurement Plan through liaison with parent company experts.
  • Ensure a relentless focus on Zero Harm.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Experience of working within the construction industry and demonstrated knowledge of the interfaces and relationships that exist.
  • Demonstrates the ability to manage, plan and structure operational procurement resources of mixed experience and capability.
  • Delivering robust procurement strategies.
  • A measured approach to decision making and the ability to ensure best value procurement.
  • Ability to focus on the targets and work well under pressure with tight deadlines.
  • Has delivered demonstrable added value through their procurement activity.
  • Member of the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (MCIPS) or chartership with another construction focused Institute (i.e., CIOB or RICS)
  • Industry qualification obtained - Diploma Level 4, or HNC in Building Studies, or Degree qualification.
