Job introduction

Brighton & Hove City Council's procurement team is part of Orbis Procurement, a shared services partnership with Surrey County Council and East Sussex County Council. Together, we manage around £2 billion in external supplier spend, from software and social care services to cleaning products and sports equipment.

About the role

This role offers a genuine opportunity to develop your procurement career in a supportive and inclusive team environment. You'll be part of a team that values collaboration, development, and you'll contribute to projects that make a real difference for our city.

The role is hybrid based in Hove Town Hall, with a blend of office based and home working to be agreed.

The procurement team is split into 4 categories:

  • City Services and Infrastructure contracts
  • Corporate, IT&D and professional service contracts
  • Health and Social Care contracts
  • Housing and property contracts

The role is varied and will give you the opportunity to lead on procurement activities across multiple categories to secure the goods, works and services that most appropriately address the identified needs of our customers, residents and partners.

The outcome of your will be contracts that are delivered in full compliance with the council's contract standing orders and regulations, and deliver best value for the Council, not only in terms of cost, but also by maximising social and environmental benefits.

About You

We welcome applicants from a range of commercial backgrounds and encourage diversity in our team. Some prior procurement experience is essential, along with an understanding of how public sector delivery influences purchasing strategies and practices.

Additional information

Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is less than 37 hours or term-time only.

These would be part of your individual working arrangements alongside any personal preference agreed with your manager in advance of joining. Your contractual location will be the designated council office for your team and travel to and from your contractual location would be at your own expense.

Salary range
