Procurement Category Manager - Technology

Location: London - hybrid 50%

Contract: Permanent

Hours: Full time - 35 hours

Purpose of role

As the Procurement Category Manager - Technology you will deliver business partnering and commercial support to the business for a wide range of sourcing requirements across the Technology category. This includes managing formal sourcing, onboarding and contract renewal processes, and assessing value for money from third party products and services and provoking action to optimise this value. You will also work closely with the Third Party Risk Management team to minimise supplier‑related risks and uphold regulatory standards.

Key responsibilities
  • Category management: Shape and lead category sourcing strategies that support the business meet its objectives across Technology and that drive innovation and ensure effective cost & risk management.
  • Sourcing, contracting and onboarding: Take stakeholders and third parties on a coherent sourcing project pathway, from initial need through to contracting and handoff to the business. Work closely with Legal to negotiate optimised commercial terms for third party contracts as well as ensuring that third party risks and performance are managed where appropriate via contract terms.
  • Insight and analysis: Use spend analysis to support cost optimisation.
  • Stakeholder management: Establish credibility with stakeholders through subject matter expertise and commercial acumen.
  • Supplier relationship management: Navigate a de‑centralised Supplier Relationship Management governance structure to support supplier relationships managed by the business.
  • Continuous improvement and promoting the Procurement 'brand': Role model Procurement as a business service and support the Head of Procurement to reboot and elevate the Procurement team's profile and reputation as a value‑adding support function.
  • Strong business knowledge: Maintain strong business understanding including key strategic priorities and markets in which the business operates. Just Group is changing and evolving at a fast pace, so there will be need to keep abreast of the changing landscape and shape of activity.
  • Governance and risk management: Ensure Procurement practice is in line with the Group Procurement Policies.
What we're looking for
  • Proven experience of managing Technology sourcing requirements across software, cloud services and IT professional services
  • Experience of managing Technology sourcing requirements in an Insurance or other Financial Services environment is essential
  • Experience of implementing a category management approach to Technology spend
  • Excellent communication skills at all levels, with the ability to influence
  • Strong negotiation skills / experience
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Ability to handle and manipulate large amounts of raw data into relevant and presentable formats. This will require very effective IT skills - Microsoft Office packages including Word, advanced Excel (including pivot tables, look ups), presentational packages (PowerPoint, PDF)
  • Organisation and planning skills
