Procurement Assistant

What you will be doing:

An opportunity has arisen for a Procurement Assistant to join the team at Lintott, a Galliford Try business. The role of the Procurement Assistant is to assist in the process of purchase requisitions and bills of material to procure components for contract, bonded stock and stores replenishment that fully complies with all contractual, procedural and legislative requirements in line with the Procurement Departmental Plan and the Companies vision and strategy.

  • To ensure satisfactory delivery of all materials as predetermined by approved purchase requests and/or bill of materials
  • To assist process purchase order acknowledgements and resolve queries with the appropriate stakeholders where required
  • To obtain quotations from suppliers when required
  • Working with the Business Assurance and Accounts functions, maintain existing supplier account records and set up new accounts as and when required
  • Day to day purchase order maintenance, including processing of order acknowledgements, expediting and maintaining accurate delivery dates
  • To maintain / update internal databases (and associated records) with supplier details and costs
  • To assist in stock counts when required
  • Any other functions agreed from time to time with management
  • Always abide by the Company’s Culture and Values
  • Assume other responsibilities as required and work with colleagues to further the best possible performance of the Company
  • Lead excellent working practices, including:

  • This role requires compliance of the IT Policies in relation to: Accessing Data, Storing of Data, Transmitting of Data, Disposing of Data
About You:
  • 2 years’ experience within a purchasing environment
  • A passion for delivering customer service excellence in a cost-effective way
  • Health and Safety awareness
  • Excellent IT skills – including but not limited to, Word Processing, Spreadsheets and Databases
  • Experience of an order entry system
  • Good commercial awareness
  • At least 2 years experience within a similar role
  • Accurate data entry skills
Experience and Qualifications:
  • Strong time management skills and motivation – ability to work using own initiative, to deadlines and constraints
  • Ability to communicate effectively in written and verbal formats to internal and external environments
  • The capability to excel in idea generation, evaluation, partner engagement, cross‑functional technical program management and building / developing an exceptional technical team
  • Positive and enthusiastic attitude to technical challenges, and flexibility to cope effectively with changes to specifications or priorities
  • Commitment to own personal professional development
  • A commitment to Respect At Work (including, but not limited to, Inclusion, Diversity and Equal Opportunities)
  • Knowledge of Change Management / Organisational Excellence
  • Sage 200 experience
  • CIPS certification
