Job summary

Morson Talent currently have an exciting new position for a Procurement Agent to join our prestigious Aerospace client based in Gosport. This is a contract initially for 12 months, hybrid working with three days in the Gosport office.

The role sits in the Vertical Lift Supplier Management and Procurement team, focusing on the UK MoD Chinook fleet contract. You will manage performance, drive cost savings and lead complex negotiations with a major subcontractor, working across large, diverse teams

Qualifications

  • Ideally 10+ years of relevant experience, Defence industry experience preferred.
  • Strong commercial acumen and ability to draft/interpret contract language.
  • Excellent supplier and stakeholder relationship management capabilities.
  • Understanding of the Chinook platform.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and SAP/ERP systems.
  • Adaptable with a global mindset and cross-site collaboration.
  • Strong communication and customer focus.
  • Willingness to travel between sites as required.

Job description

Morson Talent currently have an exciting new position for a Procurement Agent to join our prestigious Aerospace client based in Gosport. This is a contract initially for 12 months.

The Vertical Lift Supplier Management and Procurement team has an exciting position available within our Major Subcontracts team.

Position Responsibilities:

This is an individual contributor position in a growing global organisation. The individual will be responsible for the management of the StandardAero sub-contract for the maintenance and support of the UK MoD’s fleet of Chinook Aircraft. The Companies business with StandardAero equates to over £100m in both core and additional tasking activities and is co-located with the StandardAero Aircraft maintenance team at its Fleetlands facility in Gosport. Physical presence at least three days a week in the Gosport office is essential for the successful management of the contract. The successful individual will work with StandardAero to ensure Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) are being met and risk is being mitigated. Given the nature of the contract and the co-location of the teams, a proven ability to work in large, diverse and cross-functional teams is essential, alongside an ability to shape and influence outcomes. Strong critical thinking and leadership abilities are also key in order to successfully overcome the day to day challenges experienced with managing such a large and multi-faceted contract.

  • Ensure that StandardAero performance and contractual/procurement strategies align to the needs of both the Vertical Lift programme and the wider business.
  • Communicate performance expectations and metrics to evaluate and monitor supplier performance.
  • Facilitate cross-functional collaboration.
  • Lead complex negotiations and resolve supplier issues.

  • Foster strong supplier partnerships and innovation. Initiate supplier and other improvement activities/opportunities and provide results for integration into contracting strategies.

  • Manage supplier/subcontractor performance and relationship to ensure delivery, quality, financial stability and in-service performance.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience)
Basic
  • Ideally 10 or more years of relevant experience, particularly experience working in the Defence industry and working with UK MoD regulation and contractual flowdowns
  • Strong commercial acumen - ability to draft contractual language and negotiate and interpret contract Terms & Conditions
  • Strong supplier and stakeholders relationship management skills
  • Understanding of the Chinook platform
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, SAP/ERP knowledge
  • Adaptability & global mind set

  • Ability to travel between sites if required

This role is offered on a hybrid working basis minimum 3 days in office.
