A Little About Our Wednesbury Site

Our advanced manufacturing site in Wednesbury, West Midlands, is our newest advanced manufacturing site, and we’ve invested around £4.7 million into state‑of‑the‑art facilities.

Our Wednesbury site is a flagship Added Value centre for Avara, which employs over 150 talented individuals at the site, who help to supply some of the UK’s largest supermarkets and popular restaurants!

About The Role

As Process Technologist you will act as the site interface between NPD and production, ensuring that new or changed products, processes and packaging are effectively introduced.

As a Process Technologist you’ll be working Monday to Friday 08.00‑17.00.

What will you be doing as a Process Technologist at Avara?

You will collaborate with NPD and production to coordinate factory trials and ensure smooth transitions of product from concept to launch to ensure legal compliance, food safety, and adherence to customer specifications.

What will your key responsibilities as a Process Technologist include?
  • Active member of Gate and Activity NPD meetings
  • Provide information to specification technologist and development technologists to ensure effective launches of all products.
  • Management of sample requests and fulfilment, including nutritional, microbiological, allergenic sampling plus ad‑hoc requirements.
  • Support factory trials, pre‑pros and product launches.
  • Site lead for the generation and maintenance of factory specifications, quality attribute standards, assembly lessons, make‑ups, customer specifications, and inter‑factory specifications.
  • Support when required and provide updates to the HACCP team.
  • Support the effective relationships with external customers during development process, trials and site visits.
  • Provide operations with support to effectively launch new products.
What You’ll Need To Be Successful
  • Food related HND, Intermediate Food Safety Level 3, Intermediate HACCP Level 3 and internal auditing qualification.
  • Food process technology and/or food industry knowledge/experience.
  • Sufficient experience of working within a food manufacturing environment.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Problem‑solving techniques.
  • Excellent IT skills – including use of Microsoft Excel and Outlook, use of graphs and data.
  • Excellent communication skills including written and verbal.
