Job description

Help deliver top-quality drinking water across the Thames Water region. As a Process Scientist, you'll ensure water quality from source to reservoir, respond to incidents, and drive optimisation—all while sharing best practice across teams.

Responsibilities
  • Water quality monitoring from the source to the service reservoir.
  • Investigating water quality failures/events at company assets and raising on the asset DWSP (Drinking Water Safety Plan).
  • Provide recommendations to both internal and external departments on how events/failures can be prevented in the future.
  • Providing technical support to Production and Capital Delivery schemes in order to ensure that water quality requirements are met.
  • Supporting internal water treatment works audit process (DWSP) and conducting End to end-to-end treatment reviews.
  • Represent the company in meetings with stakeholders to build awareness both internally and externally.
  • Maintain the reputation of the Thames Water brand.
  • Undertaking out-of-hours technical support on a one-in-six rota, for which appropriate training will be given.

Base location: West London: Hybrid - Ashford Common (WTW) - TW15 1RU

Working pattern or hours: 36 Hours per week (Monday to Friday) plus the addition of an out of hours rota for which you will receive additional payment.

  • Enjoys investigative work.
  • Strong organisational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work logically and analytically.
  • Maintains a positive and professional approach when dealing with customers.
  • Ability to travel to multiple sites is required.
  • A valid UK driving licence is essential.
Additional skills and experiences would be great to have/bring
  • Educated to Degree level in a relevant discipline.
  • Background in water science or process engineering within a regulatory framework is advantageous.
  • Awareness of Industry Best Operating Practice for potable water treatment and transmission is beneficial (though not essential).
