  • Manufacturing toolroom experience, including CNC Turning and Milling.

Job Title

Process Engineer

Location

Salary

Up to £43,649 (depending on skills and experience)

What you’ll be doing
  • Ensure that manufacturing processes are carried out safely by identifying and understanding process risks and implementing the necessary controls to ensure process risks are As Low as Reasonably Practicable (ALARP)
  • Refine the manufacturing processes to achieve process/manufacturing goals according to product specification and business priorities
  • Plan and design methods to improve efficiency and product quality by utilising Continuous Improvement tools and working as a member of a cross functional team
  • Work to improve equipment availability and capability, and carry out process capability studies
  • Manage and support capital acquisition, engineering proposals, and provide estimated costs to achieve operational improvements and financial benefits
  • Liaise with Product/Process TA, have an input into PFMEA, produce technical specifications for new/replacement equipment, carry out factory acceptance and installed article tests, and carry out trials and commissioning on process equipment
  • Liaise with the site Safety/COMAH/High Hazard team to develop and maintain manufacturing High Hazard Safe Systems of Work, including DSEAR and Standard Operating Procedures
  • Train Line employees on existing and new processes and methods, carry out competency assessments to ensure line employees are competent and familiar with manufacturing processes and equipment. Ensure tasks that are critical to safety are identified and understood
Your skills and experiences
  • Essential: Science or Engineering degree, HND or equivalent in Manufacturing/Electrical/Mechanical (achieved or working towards)
  • Desirable: NEBOSH certificate in Occupational Health and Safety
  • Proven experience within a manufacturing environment (Process/Aerospace/Automotive)
  • Manufacturing toolroom experience, including CNC Turning and Milling

Special Projects Team

You will be integrated within a newly established project team supporting manufacturing process development and overall delivery. Reporting to the Senior Process Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring that programme derivation and execution includes appropriate engineering development activity to achieve a robust solution. The activities will be planned with sound estimates for completion with appropriate risk mitigation built in. The position will be based at the BAE Systems Land UK site in Glascoed, Monmouthshire on a four‑day working pattern within a hybrid‑working environment with occasional travel to other customer, manufacturing and test and evaluation sites.
