  • Develop process designs, mass balance calculations, and technical specifications for treatment systems.
  • Support feasibility studies, optioneering, and front-end design development.
  • Provide technical input during tendering, design, and construction stages.
  • Conduct process risk assessments, design reviews, and HAZOPs.
  • Monitor plant performance and support commissioning and optimisation activities.
  • Ensure designs comply with health, safety, and environmental standards and client requirements.
  • Collaborate with project teams to ensure designs are delivered to cost, quality, and schedule targets.

A leading engineering and infrastructure contractor delivering complex water and environmental projects across the UK is looking to recruit a Process Engineer to join their design and delivery team in Peterborough. The company is involved in a variety of schemes focused on sustainable treatment solutions, network optimisation, and environmental performance improvements.

Role

As Process Engineer, you will be responsible for the technical design, assessment, and optimisation of water and wastewater treatment processes from concept through to commissioning. Working as part of a multi-disciplinary design team, you’ll collaborate closely with civil, mechanical, and electrical engineers to develop efficient, compliant, and sustainable process solutions.

Responsibilities
  • Develop process designs, mass balance calculations, and technical specifications for treatment systems
  • Support feasibility studies, optioneering, and front-end design development
  • Provide technical input during tendering, design, and construction stages
  • Conduct process risk assessments, design reviews, and HAZOPs

Candidate Requirements
  • Experience as a Process Engineer within the water or environmental engineering sector
  • Strong understanding of water and/or wastewater treatment processes
  • Capable of producing process flow diagrams, P&IDs, and technical reports
  • Excellent communication and analytical skills, with the ability to work across disciplines
  • Degree qualified in Chemical, Process, or Environmental Engineering (or equivalent)
  • Chartered or working towards chartership desirable
