Job summary

Veolia, a global leader in environmental services, is recruiting a Process Engineer for Birmingham with hybrid working and a 37.5-hour week. This full-time role offers a competitive salary and a comprehensive benefits package.

You will support Sales, Marketing and Tendering on pre-qualification and proposals, ensure use of standard technical information, and prepare process design documentation in line with design standards.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Chemical/Waste Water Engineering with 2+ years of practical knowledge.
  • Experience in Water/ Wastewater Treatment.
  • PC / IT literate - Google Suite preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Supporting Sales, Marketing and Tendering with pre-qualification and proposals.
  • Preparing and validating process design documentation (P&ID, PFD, design philosophy).
  • Support commissioning and service teams to optimise plants.
  • Supervise Design Engineers, Group Leaders and CAD Designers during proposal design.
  • Ensure safe operation and compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Provide risk assessments and ensure information is up-to-date for projects.

Birmingham based with Hybrid working Full-Time, Monday to Friday (37.5 hours) Competitive Salary

What will I be doing?

Supporting Sales, Marketing and Tendering departments with regards to pre-qualification, proposals and post tender submissions such as technical presentations.

Ensuring that available standard technical information, documentation details and drawings are used to design; consider feedback of previous contractors (e.g. information available from commissioning).

Preparation and validation (internal or via VWT) of controlled process design documentation (e.g. Process Flow Diagrams, P&ID diagrams, process control philosophy) in compliance with relevant design standards, statutory obligations and regulations.

Supporting commissioning and service teams with regards to optimising plants and resolving process issues.

Supervising Design Engineers, Group Leaders and CAD Designers during proposal design period and ensuring that programmed and design requirements are achieved.

Ensuring that the products and system design will not give rise to harm when operated within the recommended parameters. Key areas of responsibility include:

Ensuring that any products or systems are safe in use.

Ensuring that the products or systems designed meet current Health and Safety legislation in all markets in which the product or system is to be sold

That adequate information is provided describing the correct safe operation of the product or system, highlighting any risks associated with its operation or maintenance.

Where appropriate to provide documented design risk assessments to demonstrate that any risks arising in the implementation of a system have been identified and addressed.

What you will bring to the role:

  • Natural ability to connect with people via phone / video conferencing / face to face.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good research skills and the ability to translate information into resonating statements.
  • Ability to deliver accurate high quality work to tight deadlines.
  • Ability to manage multiple enquiries and proposals.
  • Contractually aware and good business acumen.
  • Self-motivated & professional.
  • Ability to be persistent and answer objections.
Qualifications
  • Degree in Chemical/Waste Water Engineering, with 2+ years of practical knowledge gained through similar experience .

Strong commissioning capabilities and prior hands‑on experience.

Experience with cloud based process control and monitoring platforms will be considered as an advantage.
