Process Development Technologist

Are you looking to start or continue your career in New Product Development? We have a new opportunity for a Process Development Technologist to join our brilliant team in Barnsley.

Location: Barnsley, South Yorkshire, S73 0BB

Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:30 – 17:00 with occasional flexibility required for trial times.

Salary: £27,000 – £29,000

Purpose

To support food concepts from kitchen through the manufacturing process to launch, ensuring technical and quality standards are achieved. To support trials and validate factory processes, suggesting any improvements, efficiencies and potential value without being detrimental to finished product quality.

Your Duties Will Include:
  • Support the transition of a product from kitchen concept to production in line with assigned critical path.
  • Generate, update, and maintain internal factory recipe paperwork.
  • Organise and execute factory trials ensuring accurate data collection and communication of results.
  • Organise nutritional and shelf‑life samples from each factory trial.
  • Collaborate with different departments including production, technical, supply chain, goods‑in and despatch to optimise recipes and processes.
  • Collect and analyse data to validate product performance.
  • Liaise with customers for feedback on trials, pre‑production and launch samples.
  • All trialled products to be organoleptically assessed and quality attributes recorded.
Experience, Skills and Qualities
  • Passion for food, looking to continue career within food manufacturing.
  • Previous experience in a process, technical or NPD role (desirable).
  • Degree‑level or equivalent in a food based/manufacturing subject (desirable).
  • Good IT skills including Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Good interpersonal skills to work with people at different levels.
  • Organisation and time management skills.
  • Attention to detail.
