Job summary

Vickerstock is partnering with an established engineering contractor delivering major water and wastewater infrastructure programmes across the UK. The Process Design Engineer will help develop robust process solutions for water and wastewater projects, from early contractor involvement through to detailed design and delivery.

You'll work across multidisciplinary teams to optimise process solutions, support ECI activities with Severn Trent and United Utilities, and contribute to project success

Qualifications

• Degree in chemical/process/environmental engineering or equivalent.
• Prior process design experience in water or wastewater sector.
• Understanding of water treatment processes and process calculations.
• Ability to deliver design documentation across multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Develop process designs for water and wastewater projects.
• Perform process calculations, assessments and optioneering studies.
• Create PFDs, technical documentation and equipment specs.
• Support ECI activities and evaluate alternative solutions.
• Collaborate with civil, mechanical and electrical teams to integrate treatment solutions.
• Coordinate process requirements with other design disciplines.
• Support tender through detailed design and project delivery.

Process Design Engineer | Water & Wastewater | Belfast

Vickerstock are pleased to be partnering with an established engineering contractor delivering major water and wastewater infrastructure programmes across the UK.

As their in-house design capability continues to grow, they are seeking a Process Design Engineer with water industry experience to support projects from early contractor involvement and tender through to detailed design and delivery.

Initial workload will include ECI projects with Severn Trent and United Utilities, providing an opportunity to influence process solutions at an early stage while working closely with civil, mechanical, electrical and construction teams.

Your new role as Process Design Engineer

As Process Design Engineer, you will play a key role in developing technically robust, efficient and buildable process solutions for water and wastewater infrastructure.

You will be responsible for:

• Developing process designs for water and wastewater treatment projects
• Undertaking process calculations, assessments and optioneering studies
• Developing process flow diagrams and associated technical documentation
• Preparing process specifications, design reports and equipment requirements
• Supporting ECI activities and evaluating alternative engineering solutions
• Working closely with mechanical and electrical engineers to develop integrated treatment solutions
• Coordinating process requirements with civil and structural design teams
• Supporting projects from tender through design development and detailed design
• Providing technical input throughout project delivery and construction

What you will need to succeed as Process Design Engineer

• Degree qualified in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, Environmental Engineering or a related discipline
• Previous process design experience within the water or wastewater sector
• Strong understanding of water and/or wastewater treatment processes
• Experience undertaking process calculations and producing technical design documentation
• Ability to develop engineering solutions within multidisciplinary project environments
• Consultancy, contractor and design & build experience will all be considered
• Chartered status, or progression towards Chartership, would be beneficial but is not essential
