Job summary

Park Avenue Recruitment, on behalf of a Local Authority in Kent, seeks an experienced Private Sector Housing Officer on an initial 6-month interim contract. The role focuses on HMO inspections, licensing and enforcement to uphold housing standards.

You will inspect HMOs, manage licensing caseloads, investigate unlicensed cases, and take appropriate enforcement action. Hybrid working with site attendance across Kent is required.

Qualifications

• Experience with HMO inspections and licensing.
• Knowledge of HHSRS is beneficial.
• Experience investigating unlicensed HMOs.
• Understanding landlord and tenant legislation.

Responsibilities

• Carry out HMO inspections across the borough.

• Manage HMO licensing cases from inspection to resolution.
• Take enforcement action where properties or landlords are non-compliant.
• Prepare and serve statutory notices.

• Work closely with colleagues across the wider Private Sector Housing and Environmental Health team.

Private Sector Housing Officer - Kent

£50-£55 per hour

Park Avenue Recruitment are working with a Local Authority in Kent that is looking for an experienced Private Sector Housing Officer to join their team on an initial 6-month interim contract.

The council is looking for someone who can come in and provide additional support specifically around HMOs, so this would be a great opportunity for an officer with strong experience in HMO inspections, licensing and enforcement.

Responsibilities

• Carry out HMO inspections across the borough.
• Investigate unlicensed and potentially licensable HMOs.
• Undertake HHSRS assessments, with experience or knowledge of the new HHSRS system helpful.
• Manage HMO licensing cases from inspection through to resolution.
• Investigate complaints relating to housing conditions and standards within HMOs.
• Take appropriate enforcement action where properties or landlords are non-compliant.
• Prepare and serve statutory notices where required.
• Liaise with landlords, tenants and managing agents to resolve housing-standard issues.
• Maintain accurate inspection notes, evidence and case records.
• Work closely with colleagues across the wider Private Sector Housing and Environmental Health team.
