Job summary

The London Borough of Newham is looking for a Private Sector Housing Officer to ensure compliance in one of the largest private rented sectors in England. You will conduct inspections of unlicensed properties and ensure licensing compliance while supporting legal proceedings.

The ideal candidate will have robust knowledge of housing legislation and experience in inspections, complemented by excellent communication skills. Flexible working arrangements and a relocation package of up to £7,000 are available.

Qualifications

• In-depth knowledge of housing legislation, particularly the Housing Act 2004.
• Practical experience in conducting regulatory inspections.
• Proficient in evidence compilation for legal matters.

Responsibilities

• Conduct inspections of unlicensed properties.
• Check compliance with licensing conditions.
• Support court cases related to housing issues.

Skills

Knowledge of the Housing Act 2004

Experience in serving and enforcing housing legislation

Competency in using the HHSRS rating system

Experience conducting housing inspections
