Job summary

A boutique family law practice in Birmingham is seeking a Private Family Partner to manage a caseload of private family law matters. This role focuses on delivering client-centred advice without the pressure of business development or advocacy. The firm offers hybrid work options, a salary between £60,000 and £90,000, and extensive benefits including 25 days holiday plus bank holidays. The ideal candidate should be commercially minded with strong communication skills and at least 4 years of PQE.

This is an exciting opportunity for a Private Family Partner to be part of a highly respected, boutique family law practice.

Who we’re looking for
  • 4 PQE up to Partner level
  • Able to run your own private family caseload
  • Commercially minded with strong billing habits
  • Positive, proactive and open-minded
  • Enjoys flexibility and remote work
  • Strong communicator, confident with client conversations
  • Legal 500 experience (desired but not essential)
  • Full-time or part-time (minimum 3 days per week)
What you’ll be doing
  • Manage a caseload of private family law matters
  • Deliver commercially aware, client‑centred advice
  • Build strong relationships and contribute to establishing the brand locally
  • Maintain accurate time recording and billing
  • Work within a national family team across Manchester, London and Leeds
  • Focus solely on fee earning — no BD, no advocacy
  • Participate in team video calls and receive remote support and mentoring
Salary & Benefits
  • £60,000–£90,000 depending on experience
  • 1 day per week in the Birmingham office (or once a fortnight/month depending on distance)
  • Option to work 4 days and get paid for 5
  • 25 days’ holiday plus bank holidays (higher allowances possible depending on performance)
