Job summary

Errington Legal Recruitment Limited is helping leading regional law firms recruit for a Trusts Solicitors team in the East of England. Roles include Associate to Senior Associate levels across multiple locations with hybrid working.

You will manage a portfolio of trusts, preparing tax returns, declarations and meetings with trustees and IFA. Candidates should have 1–5+ PQE, a working knowledge of Personal Tax Returns, and ideally STEP qualification.

Qualifications

• Experience administering trust accounts and tax returns.
• Familiar with Trust Registration Service and related filings.
• Experience liaising with trustees, beneficiaries and intermediaries.
• Strong understanding of inheritance tax and CGT basics.
• Compliance with trust regulations and HMRC interactions.

Responsibilities

• Administer a portfolio of trusts including annual accounts and tax returns.
• Draft documents for Trustees retirement/appointments and beneficiary advances.
• Prepare and submit TRS declarations; handle FATCA/CRS filings as needed.
• Host Trustees meetings and review trust investments with IFA.
• Prepare inheritance tax forms and CGT calculations for Relevant Property Trusts.
• Day-to-day trust administration and respond to beneficiary requests.

Would you like to be a part of a highly regarded, specialist Trusts team in a leading regional law firm?

Trusts Solicitors – Associate / Senior Associate – Various locations across the East of England with hybrid working

Role

• Work collaboratively with the Private Client lawyers and the Legal Trust Corporation directors
• Administer a portfolio of trusts for longstanding clientsincluding annual accounts and tax returns
• Legal drafting of documents in relation to:
  • retirement and appointments of Trustees
  • advances to beneficiaries
  • winding up of trusts
• Preparation and submission of the annual declarations on the Trust Registration Service
• Preparation and submission of FATCA and CRS returns, where necessary
• Hosting the annual Trustees Meeting to review the trust investments with the IFA and Trustees
• Preparation of the inheritance tax forms and calculations for all Relevant Property Trusts
• Undertaking the day-to-day administration of the trusts to include talking to beneficiaries and handling their requests for financial support.

You

• 1-5+ PQE
• A basic understanding of Personal Tax Returns
• Inheritance tax, capital gains tax and CGT 60-day knowledge
• Experience of preparing trust accounts and tax returns.
• Experience of dealing with professional intermediaries, trustees and beneficiaries
• Clear understanding of the compliance requirements for trusts
• Experience of liaising with HMRC as required, on behalf of trustees and beneficiaries
• Ideally you will be STEP qualified, but this is not essential
