Job summary

S&W is seeking a skilled Private Client Tax Manager in Edinburgh to lead a portfolio of sophisticated tax matters for high-net-worth clients and businesses. You will guide a talented team, deliver timely advisory and compliance work, and liaise across service lines to add value for clients.

The role requires chartered status (CA/CTA) and a track record in private client tax, with leadership experience and strong communication skills to explain complex issues clearly.

Qualifications

• Qualified CA/CTA with private client tax experience.
• Experience in professional services with capital gains tax and inheritance tax knowledge.
• Ability to communicate complex messages to clients clearly.
• Demonstrated people management and leadership skills.

Responsibilities

• Deliver work to clients on time and within budget.
• Manage a client portfolio and review junior team work.
• Liaise with other service lines (Accounts & Corporate Tax) to deliver client solutions.
• Monitor WIP and draft fee notes.
• Maintain strong client relationships and identify opportunities for new work.
• Develop more junior team members with timely feedback and technical guidance.

What will you be doing?

We’re seeking a talented individual to join our Private Client Tax Team in Edinburgh. It's our vision to be the go-to professional services firm for sophisticated businesses and private clients with complex needs and our success hinges on our people. As Manager, your responsibilities will include among others

• Responsibility for delivering work to clients in line with agreed timelines and budgets.
• Managing a client portfolio reviewing the work of junior team members.
• Liaising with other service lines to deliver work to clients, for example: Accounts & Corporate Tax work.
• Monitoring of WIP and drafting fee notes
• Maintaining strong relationships with clients and supporting senior members of the team to identify opportunities for new work.
• Developing the more junior team including providing timely feedback and assisting them with technical and personal development

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you should

• Be a qualified Chartered Accountant and/or Chartered Tax Adviser - ACA / CTA
• Have significant experience gained within another professional services firm and will have a sound knowledge and understanding of a variety of private client tax issues dealing with complex capital gains tax and inheritance tax matters.
• Have proven technical knowledge and capability to communicate complex messages to your client base with the ability to ask the right questions.
• Possess the abilityto think beyond the technical elements of your work and consider the client's overall landscape.
• Demonstrateexperience of delivering tax planning/advisory projects as well as managing complex compliance issues.
• Have people management and organisational experience
