Job summary

Larking Gowen LLP in Ipswich is seeking a proactive Tax Assistant to support the Private Client Trust and Probate team in preparing tax returns and providing organised, professional support to portfolio holders.

You will assist with basic computations, liaise with HMRC, and help maintain client records, while upholding high ethical standards and contributing to office marketing and client service excellence.

Qualifications

• Previous tax experience.
• Intermediate excel spreadsheet skills.
• Basic Word skills including basic letter writing.
• Good customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation of tax returns and computations using client source information.
• Draft basic Capital Gains Tax computations for senior review.
• Prepare HMRC forms for senior review, including tax elections and PAYE codes.
• Assist senior team members on tax advisory projects.
• Liaise with HMRC and other professionals regarding client affairs.
• Ensure compliance with professional ethical procedures.
• Maintain and update the in-house client database.
