Senior Private Client Solicitor Clear Path to Partnership

Salary: 55000 - 75000 DOE

Are you an experienced Private Client Solicitor looking to take the next step in your career with a firm that genuinely invests in your progression Our client a well‑established regional law firm with offices in Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire is seeking a Senior Private Client Solicitor to join their growing team in Luton. With a proven track record of promoting from withinseveral partners started as traineesthis is your opportunity to build a thriving client portfolio whilst working towards partnership.

About the Opportunity

Due to continued growth our clients busy Private Client Department is expanding. This role offers genuine autonomy the chance to develop your own client base and the support of a collaborative team environment. Youll work on a diverse caseload whilst mentoring junior team members and contributing to the departments strategic development.

Location: Luton office (with occasional support required at the Berkhamsted office)

Working Hours: Full‑time 09:00 – 17:30 Monday to Friday

Reporting to: Partner Private Client Department

Key Responsibilities

Client Development & Portfolio Management:

  • Develop and manage your own client portfolio through networking, social media and marketing initiatives
  • Conduct client meetings and manage client expectations throughout matters
  • Handle new enquiries and convert prospects into long‑term clients
  • Participate in legal clinics, webinars, podcasts and networking events

Technical Legal Work:

  • Prepare comprehensive documentation across all private client matters.
  • Wills (including living wills).
  • Probate applications and administration of estates.
  • Lasting Powers of Attorney (LPAs).
  • Trust creation and management.
  • Court of Protection work.
  • Conduct relevant searches and due diligence.
  • Develop tax‑efficient proposals to maximise entitlements under HMRC inheritance rules.
  • Ensure strict adherence to compliance policies and risk management procedures.

Team Leadership & Development:

  • Support and mentor junior team members
  • Contribute to departmental strategy and development
  • Participate in CPD activities and share knowledge across the team
  • Assist with marketing initiatives and charity events
Essential Requirements

Experience & Qualifications:

  • 10 years PQE in Private Client law within a UK legal practice
  • Qualified Solicitor with proven experience across the full range of private client matters
  • Demonstrable track record of client development and business generation
  • Strong understanding of Lexcel requirements and compliance standards

Technical Skills:

  • Excellent knowledge of wills, probate, trusts, LPAs and Court of Protection work
  • Proven expertise in inheritance tax planning and estate administration
  • Proficient with case management systems, MS Word, Outlook and Excel
  • Strong file and time management capabilities

Personal Attributes:

  • Self‑motivated with the ability to work to targets and billing requirements
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with clients at all levels
  • Ability to support vulnerable clients with empathy and professionalism

  • Valid UK driving licence
