Our client, a well-established law firm in Exeter is seeking a skilled and organised Private Client Secretary. The firm prides itself on delivering high-quality legal services to families, landowners, and High Net Worth Individuals across the region, combining professionalism with a personal touch. Strong client relationships, clear communication, and a welcoming service are at the heart of the firm’s ethos.

Role and Responsibilities

The Private Client Secretary will provide high-level administrative support to team and key responsibilities will include:

  • Managing busy workloads and providing proactive support to fee earners.
  • Typing accurately and efficiently from digital dictation and preparing precedent-based letters and documents.
  • Assisting colleagues in multiple offices using remote dictation tools.
  • Supporting fee earners with electronic diary management and scheduling.
  • Attending client meetings and preparing attendance notes where required.
  • Performing general reception duties as needed.
  • Demonstrating flexibility in responding to changing priorities and departmental needs.
Candidate Requirements
  • Excellent secretarial and audio typing skills with high attention to detail.
  • Previous experience using digital dictation and case management systems.
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work well under pressure, demonstrating flexibility and initiative.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel.
  • Previous legal secretarial experience is essential.
  • Experience in Private Client work is highly desirable.
