A respected and well-established law firm with a strong focus on private client work is looking for an experienced Private Client Lawyer to join their Wills and Probate department based in Northwest London. Known for offering high-quality legal services across multiple practice areas, this firm provides a supportive, forward-thinking environment and values professional growth and development.
The successful Private Client Lawyer will manage a varied caseload covering all aspects of private client law, including Wills, Probate, Trusts, Powers of Attorney, and Court of Protection work. You will oversee complex estate administrations, from obtaining Grants of Probate through to distribution, and advise on related tax issues such as Inheritance Tax and Capital Gains Tax. The Private Client Lawyer will also be responsible for preparing Wills, guiding clients on tax planning strategies, and managing Lasting Powers of Attorney. Additional responsibilities include Court of Protection applications and contributing to business development activities within the department.
A minimum of 4 years’ post-qualification experience (PQE) in private client law.
STEP or SFE membership would be advantageous, though not essential.
Strong knowledge of Wills, Probate, Trusts, and tax planning, including Inheritance Tax and Capital Gains Tax.
Experience in Court of Protection matters and elderly client care, including social care and Continuing Healthcare (CHC) funding.
Demonstrates excellent client care and business development skills.
