Job summary

Eventus Legal in Burton upon Trent is seeking a Private Client Head of Department to lead a reputable team. The role is full-time with a salary up to £75,000, offering 25 days of holiday, free local parking and flexible working with possible hybrid arrangements in a predominantly office-based setting.

You will combine hands-on caseload management with leadership, supporting junior team members and working closely with directors on future growth of the Private Client department.

Job description

Eventus Legal are seeking a Private Client Head of Department to lead a reputable and highly regarded team at an established, full service law firm in Burton upon Trent, Derbyshire. This full-time, permanent job offers a salary of up to £75,000, high-quality work for high-net-worth clients and the opportunity to work alongside the directors on the team's future growth. In addition, you will benefit from 25 days' holiday plus bank holidays, free local parking and flexible working, with possible hybrid working within a predominantly office-based position.

Duties and Responsibilities

As the Private Client Head of Department you will combine hands on caseload management with leadership and support for a small, close knit team in Burton on Trent. Key responsibilities will include:

• Managing your own private client caseload, including complex probate and estate administration matters for high-net-worth clients.
• Handling a varied range of private client work, including wills, trusts, inheritance tax and Lasting Powers of Attorney.
• Leading and supporting the team, providing guidance on complex matters and helping colleagues develop their skills and confidence.
• Overseeing the team's day-to-day work, helping to manage priorities and maintain high standards of client care.
• Working alongside the directors to support the future growth and development of the Private Client department.

About You

This opportunity will suit an experienced private client solicitor or legal executive who can combine strong technical expertise with the ability to support and lead others. You should be able to demonstrate the following:

• Qualification as a Solicitor or Legal Executive, ideally over 5 years+ PQE.
• Substantial experience managing a private client caseload independently.
• Strong experience dealing with complex probate matters and advising high-net-worth clients.
• The ability to provide practical guidance, support colleagues and lead a small dedicated team.
• The confidence to work collaboratively with directors on the team's growth and development.

Previous Head of Department experience is not essential. Applications are welcomed from experienced private client solicitors and/or legal executives who can demonstrate the technical expertise and leadership capability required to take this next step.
