Job summary

Snap Inc. is seeking a Privacy Counsel to join Team Snap in London. You will advise on GDPR, ePrivacy, EU AI Act, and other global privacy and AI laws, partnering with Product, Security, and Legal teams to design compliant products and processes.

You will lead privacy impact assessments, respond to data subject requests, and help regulators navigate complex requirements. 6+ years’ experience in international privacy law preferred; in‑house experience a plus. Office‑based with occasional travel.

You’ll join a growing team responsible for advising Snap on privacy and AI law and compliance in EMEA. This job allows you to collaborate with members of Product and other legal teams, Employment, Engineering, Design, and other teams throughout the company to support Snap’s strong privacy and AI practices, including its world-class privacy and safety by-design program.What you’ll do:Ensure Snap is advised on privacy and AI laws, focusing especially on laws such as the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the ePrivacy Directive, and the EU AI Act, as well as the existing and emerging data protection and AI laws in EMEAPartner with Snap’s global Policy team to interact with regulators to ensure Snap’s program, policies, and practices to comply with privacy and AI laws are well-understoodAnticipate and prepare for data protection and AI law changes in the global regulatory and legislative landscapeSupport all aspects of creating our compliance strategy with proposed, pending, and new global privacy and AI legislation that could impact the business and recommend any potential or vital modifications to our products and practicesPartner with our Product Legal Counsel and our Safety and Law Enforcement Operations Counsel on sophisticated privacy and AI law issues as our products and operations evolveProvide guidance to our ops teams on managing Snap’s and its affiliates’ privacy and AI compliance programs, including data subject access requestsConduct privacy and AI impact assessmentsPartner with our Commercial Legal team to ensure our contracts and policies are aligned with privacy, security, and AI lawsCounsel and work closely with Security teams for security and privacy incident response, and security investigationsAdvise on global cybersecurity laws, regulations, and frameworksKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Solid experience advising on global privacy and AI issuesGood knowledge of global privacy and AI laws, regulations, and industry guidelines for online platformsSocial media, adtech, or AI experience is a plusExcellent legal and business judgment and critical thinkingAble to communicate with internal and external partners on sophisticated and multifaceted issuesPragmatic, business-friendly, and a great teammate, with an ability to think creatively and accommodate often challenging timelinesAble to work independently as well as collaborativelyAbility to travel, especially between Snap European officesMinimum qualifications:Qualified, practising solicitor or equivalent with excellent academic credentials6+ years of experience in an international setting (includes training years)Preferred Qualifications:In-house experience counselling clients on privacy, cybersecurity, and AI matters (this could be via secondment)Experience advising social media, adtech, or AI companiesExperience supporting the business in building positive relationships with regulators to achieve business goals and minimise riskExperience coordinating across different jurisdictions and developing company-wide strategies for compliance, taking into account diverse jurisdictions and requirementsStrong understanding of artificial intelligence and associated ecosystem from a technical perspective, including challenges and opportunitiesIf you have a disability or special need that requires accommodation, please don’t be shy and provide us some information ."Default Together" Policy at Snap: At Snap Inc. we believe that being together in person helps us build our culture faster, reinforce our values, and serve our community, customers and partners better through dynamic collaboration.
