Job summary

Wordsmith is hiring a Legal Engineer to build out privacy and compliance as a brand new product vertical. The role spans privacy, compliance, governance and broader legal use-cases, with a mid-to-senior level requiring independence and the ability to present to customers.

The position is based in Edinburgh or London, with in-person work as default, and opportunities to shape a ground-floor product in a growing AI legal tech company.

Qualifications

• Deep privacy and compliance knowledge across AI governance, security or regulatory areas.
• Qualified lawyer or privacy/compliance specialist with depth in the field.
• Strong AI literacy and ability to reason about AI tools.

Responsibilities

• Build privacy and compliance products by translating legal requirements into structured, workable solutions for an AI agent.
• Own the product vertical with autonomy over how it's built.
• Support pre-sales by understanding customer problems and demonstrating solutions.
• Apply the compliance landscape to real customer problems in privacy, governance and regulation.
• Extend into general legal work when needed beyond core privacy and compliance.
• Build with AI using Wordsmith's platform, with no coding required.
