Job description

Role Introduction

About the Role

The successful candidate will play a critical role within our Legal & Compliance team, helping to improve and maintain our Privacy by Design and by Default programme. They will serve as the technical bridge between Legal & Compliance and Security teams by translating privacy by design principles into implementable privacy by default controls and specifications. This role requires a strong understanding of global privacy laws along with technical privacy skills. The candidate will work closely with Legal & Compliance and R&D teams, reporting to our Legal Director – Privacy, Cyber & AI.

What You Will Do

Responsibilities include:

  • Improving and maintaining our Privacy by Design and by Default programme
  • Conducting privacy impact assessments (PIAs), identifying and mitigating risks across the company
  • Collaborating with data protection, legal, cybersecurity, product, and engineering teams to align privacy principles from the early stages of development
  • Guiding the development of new privacy products, features, and tools
  • Responding to privacy incidents with analysis and remediation
  • Maintaining documentation and data lifecycle management
  • Staying updated on global privacy regulations
  • Implementing data anonymization, pseudonymization, and encryption techniques
  • Communicating progress, escalations, and issues to stakeholders
  • Optimizing key privacy controls
  • Creating KPIs to measure programme effectiveness
  • Developing technical privacy training for teams
What You Will Have

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Ability to manage risks in complex situations
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams
  • Experience with privacy-enhancing technologies (PETs)
  • Experience conducting PIAs
  • Knowledge of privacy in machine learning/AI
  • Understanding of software design tools and languages
  • Knowledge of software engineering fundamentals
  • Data literacy and ability to handle large datasets
  • Ability to advocate for privacy in technical discussions

Qualifications:

  • BS or MS in computer science, engineering, information systems, or related field
  • CIPT certification (preferred)
  • Strong software and AI development skills
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • At least 5 years of experience in privacy/data protection or a related degree
