Job summary

The Ministry of Justice is recruiting prison officers for HMP Eastwood Park, a women's prison. The work combines keeping the prison safe with building constructive relationships with women in custody, often switching between peacekeeping, counselling and teaching in one day.

It is a merit vacancy with a list for posts as they arise, and rotating shifts covering evenings, nights, weekends and public holidays. Right to work in the UK and DBS checks apply.

Responsibilities

• Build constructive, professional relationships with prisoners.
• Protect the public and keep the prison and everyone in it safe.
• Carry out varied roles in a single day, such as peacekeeper, counsellor or teacher.
• Work directly with prisoners to make a positive impact on their lives.
• Support colleagues and act as one team to keep the prison secure.
• Work rotating shifts covering evenings, some nights, weekends and public holidays.
• Safeguard and promote the welfare of children, completing required training and following safeguarding policies.
