Overview

All staff have a responsibility to safeguard and promote the welfare of children. The post holder must undertake the appropriate level of training and is responsible for ensuring that they understand and work within the safeguarding policies of the organisation.

Working in women's prisons HMP Styal is part of the Women's Prison Group. Working with women in custody has some specific challenges that you may not encounter in a male prison. The role involves protecting the public and making an impact on prisoners' lives.

You will be required to work various shifts and some weekends.

Responsibilities and Job Progression

Maintain legal right to live and work in the Civil Service and in the United Kingdom.

Undergo online assessments and an online assessment centre to evaluate abilities, behaviours and strengths relevant to the prison officer role.

Complete medical and fitness tests including eyesight, hearing and basic health screening.
