Overview

All staff have a responsibility to safeguard and promote the welfare of children. The post holder must undertake the appropriate level of training and is responsible for ensuring that they understand and work within the safeguarding policies of the organisation.

Working in women's prisons HMP Styal is part of the Women's Prison Group. Working with women in custody has some specific challenges that you may not encounter in a male prison. The role involves protecting the public and making an impact on prisoners' lives.

There is no such thing as a typical prison officer. Our officers come from different walks of life and will have empathy, self-confidence, great communication skills and resilience. Teamwork is essential, and you will be committed to supporting colleagues and acting as one team to keep the prison and everyone who works here safe.

You will be required to work various shifts and some weekends.

Responsibilities and Job Progression
