Prison Recovery Worker - West Midlands (Substance Misuse In‑Reach)

Do you want to make a meaningful difference to individuals striving for change within the criminal justice system? We are seeking a motivated and compassionate Prison Recovery Worker to join our dedicated team, providing in‑reach substance misuse support within a West Midlands prison.

In this impactful role, you will support individuals in custody who are experiencing difficulties with drugs or alcohol, helping them to engage in treatment, build recovery skills, and plan for a healthier future. You will deliver structured 1:1 psychosocial interventions, harm reduction advice, and personalised recovery plans, ensuring continuity of care as service users transition through the prison system and beyond. Working collaboratively with clinical colleagues, prison staff, and external agencies, you will play a crucial role in improving wellbeing and promoting recovery outcomes.

This is a full‑time temporary role, Monday to Friday, 9am‑5pm, initially offered on a 3‑6 month contract with strong potential for extension.

Pay Rates
Up to £23 per hour (umbrella rate)
£18.14 per hour (exclusive of holiday pay)
£20.33 per hour (inclusive of holiday pay)

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide in‑reach recovery support to individuals within a prison environment
  • Manage a varied caseload with effective care planning and key working
  • Deliver structured interventions and harm reduction support on a 1:1 basis
  • Conduct assessments, risk evaluations, and safeguarding responsibilities
  • Work closely with multidisciplinary partners for holistic support
  • Support release planning and continuity of treatment post‑custody
  • Encourage positive engagement and promote long‑term recovery

  • Strong understanding of addiction recovery and associated health issues

  • Prison clearance is required
