Job summary

NHS is recruiting a Healthcare Assistant to join a prison-based healthcare team providing high-quality nursing care under the supervision of a registered nurse. You will carry out physical care per a written care plan, take blood pressures, ECGs and other observations, and support holistic wellbeing for patients in custody.

You will engage with patients to deliver health promotion activities and assist with wound care, ensuring stock and treatment rooms are maintained, while adhering to security

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 or equivalent experience.
• Competent at taking blood pressure, ECGs and other observations.
• Previous care/HCA experience.
• Experience of working in a primary care setting - hospital, secure units/prisons, etc.

Responsibilities

• Respond to the needs of patients in an honest, non-judgemental, and open manner while respecting individuals' rights.
• Provide holistic, needs-led care in collaboration with a registered nurse.
• Deliver health promotion activities in support of a healthcare professional.
• Assist with physical procedures and contribute to risk assessment and care planning.
• Take part in custodial responsibilities ensuring security and order within the prison setting.
