Job summary

Help Change Lives Through Education is seeking a passionate Functional Skills Tutor to deliver City & Guilds Functional Skills qualifications from Entry Level 1 to Level 2 within a prison education setting. You will design lessons, assess learners and create ILPs to support rehabilitation and progression into employment.

You will work with a small group of learners, adapt teaching methods for diverse backgrounds, and collaborate with prison staff and employability teams to maximise learner

Qualifications

• Level 3 qualification in Maths.
• Teaching qualification at Level 5 or higher, or willingness to work towards one.
• Experience delivering Functional Skills Maths qualifications.
• Strong lesson planning, classroom management and learner engagement.
• Ability to adapt teaching methods to meet diverse learner needs.
• Excellent communication, organisational and administrative skills.
• A commitment to safeguarding, equality, inclusion and learner success.

Responsibilities

• Deliver Functional Skills Maths qualifications from Entry 1 to Level 2.
• Conduct initial assessments and use BKSB diagnostics to identify learner starting points.
• Develop and maintain Individual Learning Plans (ILPs).
• Create engaging lesson plans that support learner progression and achievement.
• Motivate and inspire learners to reach their full potential.
• Support learners with additional learning needs and reasonable adjustments.
• Monitor progress and prepare learners for examinations and assessments.
• Promote literacy, numeracy and reading for pleasure across the prison environment.
• Work collaboratively with prison staff, support practitioners and employability teams to support positive learner outcomes.
