Job summary

Paragon is seeking an experienced No. 2 Printer with Heidelberg XL106 CutStar experience to support our printing presses. Working with the No. 1 Printer, you will help ensure high quality output while maximizing efficiency.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Heidelberg XL106 CutStar 10-color presses and XL6-color presses with coating units, a proactive approach to quality, maintenance and teamwork. Join a collaborative team committed to safety and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• No. 2 Printer with experience in a commercial print environment.
• Experience operating Heidelberg XL106 CutStar presses.
• Strong attention to detail and quality standards.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced production team.
• Understanding of press maintenance and housekeeping requirements.
• Flexible approach to shifts and overtime.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a continuous supply of paper and prepare upcoming jobs to minimise downtime.
• Prepare and bend printing plates for loading onto the press.
• Collaborate with the No. 1 Printer to ensure quality and efficient workflow.
• Monitor and replenish consumables, reporting stock requirements to the Printing Manager.
• Demonstrate flexibility with shift patterns and overtime to meet production demands.
• Carry out routine maintenance and keep the area clean and organized.
• Develop production software skills with Navision and DigiQ.
• Complete maintenance schedules, KPI documentation, and production records on time.
• Attend required training and comply with Health & Safety policies.
• Adhere to ISMS requirements and company policies.
• Strap, wrap, and prepare pallets for dispatch.
• Undertake other reasonable duties as required.

No. 2 Printer (Heidelberg XL106 CutStar)

Reports To: Printing Manager

Job Purpose

We are seeking an experienced No. 2 Printer with Heidelberg XL106 CutStar experience to support the efficient operation of our printing presses. Working alongside the No. 1 Printer, you will help ensure all work is produced to the highest quality standards while maximising operational efficiency and productivity.

The successful candidate will have experience with Heidelberg XL106 CutStar 10-colour presses and Heidelberg XL 6-colour presses with coating units, and will demonstrate a proactive approach to quality, maintenance, and teamwork.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain a continuous supply of paper to the press and prepare upcoming jobs to minimise downtime.
• Collect, prepare, and bend printing plates ready for loading onto the press.
• Work closely with the No. 1 Printer and wider production team to ensure quality, accuracy, and efficient workflow.
• Monitor and replenish consumables, reporting stock requirements to the Printing Manager as required.
• Demonstrate flexibility with shift patterns and overtime to meet production demands.
• Carry out routine maintenance tasks and respond appropriately to maintenance requirements.
• Maintain a clean and organised working environment, ensuring the press and surrounding area are kept to high housekeeping standards.
• Develop and utilise production software skills, including systems such as Navision and DigiQ.
• Complete maintenance schedules, KPI documentation, and production records accurately and on time.
• Attend all required training sessions and comply with company Health & Safety policies and procedures.
• Adhere to Information Security Management System (ISMS) requirements and associated company policies.
• Strap, wrap, and prepare pallets for outwork and dispatch.
• Undertake any other reasonable duties as required by the business.

Skills & Experience

Essential

• Previous experience working as a No. 2 Printer within a commercial print environment.
• Experience operating or assisting on Heidelberg XL106 CutStar presses.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality standards.
• Ability to work effectively within a fast-paced production team.
• Understanding of press maintenance and housekeeping requirements.
• Flexible approach to shifts and overtime.

Desirable

• Experience with Heidelberg XL106 10-colour presses and XL 6-colour presses with coating units.
• Familiarity with production management systems such as Navision and DigiQ.
• Knowledge of KPI reporting and preventative maintenance programmes.
