The Principal Support Engineer, Services is responsible for leading technical support activities across all Water & Waste product lines, providing expert guidance to service teams, supporting commissioning and warranty cases, and acting as a product specialist. The role includes mentoring, training, and contributing to product improvement initiatives, while ensuring compliance with health, safety, and quality standards.

Note we are not considering an international relocation at this time, you must already be authorised to work in the UK without sponsorship.

We are headquartered from Poole, Dorset and can offer an element of hybrid working in this position.

We expect you to:
  • Be a product expert, with advanced and complex knowledge specialising in Water & Waste products
  • Proactively feedback product issues and ideas for product improvement to the Engineering department
  • Use complex problem‑solving skills and robust and clear thought processes with input from the Product Owner when required
  • Suggest new ways of working and/or processes to the relevant people and assist in implementation
  • Support the delivery detailed product training to ship staff on installed systems if required
  • Actively take responsibility for self‑development on developing product understanding to achieve a greater wealth of experience and knowledge across all Water & Waste products
  • Take ownership of self‑development outside of the Water & Waste product portfolio to include such areas as environmental legislation and class society information to enhance overall industry understanding Membership to professional and/or technical institutions if necessary
What will be my general responsibilities?
  • Independently and remotely supporting complex electrical and mechanical commissioning, repair, and maintenance of Water & Waste products.
  • Support the delivery of high‑standard and accurate service reports from field engineers with mentoring and guidance as required.
  • Assist the engineering department and customers with mechanical and electrical installation, planning & design.
  • Provide recommendations for the improvement of products, specifications, installation, and operational procedures.
  • At all times represent the company's interests while interacting with vessel/shipyard staff or the classification society in a professional and polite manner.
  • Be familiar with and comply with the company’s relevant health, safety and environmental policy.
  • Proactively promote the purchase of spares packages, service agreements and upgrades to support increased customer satisfaction and minimise equipment downtime.
  • Adopt new company policies, procedures and tools in a timely manner with a positive attitude.
  • Work in a manner that promotes the company’s values.
  • Management may require other similar or related duties to be performed at certain times, which are outside the terms of this job description.
  • Take ownership of self‑development outside of the Water & Waste product portfolio to include such areas as environmental legislation and class society information to enhance overall industry understanding.
  • Membership to professional and/or technical institutions if necessary.
Education:
  • Preferably educated to Degree or Master’s level in Water/Wastewater Engineering, Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering.
  • Candidates with a time‑served apprenticeship and a relevant HNC or HND qualification will also be welcome to apply.
What must I demonstrate to be considered an idea candidate:
  • A comprehensive electrical/mechanical engineering background incorporating a basic understanding of electrical control systems.
  • Understanding of electronic and PLC control systems; basic understanding would be an advantage, including Siemens, Mitsubishi software control systems.
  • Must have a full understanding and ability to follow P&ID drawings, process flow drawings and complex electrical drawings.
  • Qualifications in marine engineering to HNC or HND level or NVQ3 in Commissioning & Installing electro‑mechanical systems.
  • Excellent communication skills verbal and written, self‑motivation and demonstrable high customer care standards.
  • Demonstrate cost awareness & effectiveness.
  • Fluency in English is required.
