Job Summary: JOB DESCRIPTION – Principal Engineer Location: Remote, United Kingdom Division: Ticketmaster Contract Terms: Permanent

THE TEAM

The TM1 Maps team builds and operates the B2B application used to create and manage maps for the Ticketmaster website. The platform supports the full map request workflow, from submission through review and approval, and provides the tooling that produces map data during event build. As part of this team, you will work on a product with direct impact on how live events are represented and prepared for fans, clients, and internal teams. The team owns the full lifecycle of its services, including architecture, delivery, testing, reliability, and production support.

THE JOB

In the role of Principal Engineer, you will be responsible for shaping the architecture, quality, reliability, and modernization of the Maps platform. You will design and deliver scalable application components, lead complex technical work across the team, and help evolve legacy systems toward simpler, more maintainable integration patterns. This is an individual contributor role with strong cross-team influence. You will work closely with Product, UX, engineering peers, and external integrating teams to turn product goals into robust technical solutions. You will mentor engineers, raise engineering standards, anticipate technical risks, and help the team deliver high-quality software with confidence. You will work hands‑on with a large variety of technologies and will be part of an DevOps & Agile team, responsible for the full end to end delivery of new functionalities.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
  • Lead the technical design and delivery of scalable, maintainable application components across the TM1 Maps platform.
  • Shape the architecture of the Maps application, with a focus on reliability, simplicity, observability, and long‑term maintainability.
  • Partner with Product Managers, UX, and engineering teams to translate product goals into well‑scoped technical plans.
  • Build and improve micro‑frontends and backend services using React, TypeScript, Java, and Spring Boot.
  • Develop and operate services on AWS and Kubernetes.
  • Design and support shared services, APIs, and integrations used by internal and external teams.
  • Promote high‑quality engineering practices, including automated testing, CI/CD, monitoring, alerting, performance tuning, and recovery automation.
  • Mentor engineers through technical guidance, design feedback, and practical coaching.
  • Build alignment across teams, resolve technical roadblocks, and help create shared understanding around architecture decisions.
  • Troubleshoot complex production issues and help improve the reliability and performance of real‑time, end‑to‑end systems.
  • Participate in the on‑call support rotation for systems owned by the team.
