Job summary

Skyral is seeking a seasoned software engineering leader to head a multidiscipline development team in Warminster, onsite. You will own technical accountability across parallel projects, translating architectures into production systems and driving platform-first, composable solutions across modelling, integration and deployment.

The role demands strong collaboration with MOD content providers and a focus on end-to-end delivery.

Responsibilities

• Leading a team of developers and serving as the Skyral primary point of contact at Warminster.
• Holding technical accountability across multiple concurrent projects, whilst ensuring the team delivers a fully working training system, not just components.
• Supporting the development solution architectures and turning them into implementation.
• Making technical decisions across modelling, integration, and platform usage.
• Stepping into problems across modelling challenges, integration issues, deployment blockers and guiding engineering work across all disciplines.
• Ensuring solutions are designed to be composable, reusable, and comply with platform-first principles.
• Acting as the final escalation point for technical issues on site.
• Maintaining momentum across multiple parallel workstreams.

Key Technical Proficiencies

• C++ and Go (Golang)
• Cloud Native Computing & SDLC (Kubernetes, Git, CI/CD, ORAS, ArgoCD etc.)
• Strong debugging and problem-solving skills across system boundaries
• Ability to reason about performance, latency, and system behaviour
• Familiarity with containerisation, Kubernetes-style environments, and distributed deployments
