Job summary

London Local Authority is seeking an experienced Private Sector Housing Enforcement Officer to lead enforcement actions under the Housing Act, with a focus on Civil Penalty Notices (CPNs). The role requires hands-on enforcement experience and the ability to manage cases from intake through to outcome.

The position is based in London with hybrid working. Interviews and starts are available ASAP, offering a 3–6 month initial contract with a likely extension.

Qualifications

• Experience in Private Sector Housing enforcement.
• Strong practical experience issuing CPNs.
• Experience enforcing under the Housing Act.
• Track record of successful enforcement cases.
• Experience gathering evidence via district visits.
• Ability to independently manage enforcement cases.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Chartered EHO status is not essential if practical enforcement experience demonstrated.

Responsibilities

Are you an experienced Private Sector Housing Enforcement Officer with a strong track record of CPN enforcement?

I'm supporting a London Local Authority that is looking for experienced enforcement officers to join its housing enforcement team.

The role will focus on Private Sector Housing enforcement and Civil Penalty Notices (CPNs) under the Housing Act. The council is looking for officers with genuine, hands‑on enforcement experience who can confidently manage cases and gather the necessary evidence.

Key requirements:

• Proven Private Sector Housing enforcement experience
• Strong practical experience issuing CPNs
• Experience enforcing under the Housing Act
• Demonstrable track record of successful enforcement cases
• Experience gathering evidence through district‑based visitsAbility to independently manage enforcement cases
