Job summary

Morson Edge are currently seeking a Principal Test Technician for our large aerospace client based in Edinburgh on a contracting basis. This role involves hands-on fault diagnosis of high-technology systems and test equipment in a defence/manufacturing environment.

You will work on test methods and documentation, interpret technical drawings and circuit diagrams, and collaborate with systems and electronics engineers to resolve integration issues on complex systems.

Qualifications

• Hands-on fault diagnosis of high-technology aerospace systems.
• Experience with test equipment and associated documentation.
• Familiar with safety procedures in production environments.
• Knowledge of SPC for fault/trend diagnosis.
• Experience working in cleanrooms and with precise handling.

Responsibilities

• Test and fault diagnose complex system-level products in aerospace/defence manufacturing.
• Identify and pursue improvements to test equipment, methods and docs.
• Interpret test specifications, technical drawings and circuit diagrams.
• Perform Electrical Safety, Product Acceptance, Vibration, Thermal and RF testing.
• Maintain proactive communication with Project, Quality and Engineering teams.
• Ensure standard handover procedures across all products.
• Maintain 5S areas with daily/weekly/monthly sign-off compliance.
• Collaborate closely with systems and electronics engineers to solve integration issues.

Job Description

• Test & fault diagnosis of complex system level products, in a high technology aerospace & defence manufacturing environment. Carry out fault diagnosis to component level
• To identify and pursue solutions to shortcomings with respect to test equipment, test methods and test documentation.
• Interpretation and adherence to test specifications/ technical drawings and circuit diagrams.
• Electrical Safety Testing/ Product Acceptance Testing/ Vibration & Thermal testing/ RF testing
• Maintain effective and pro-active communication with Project, Quality and Engineering functions
• To ensure standard handover procedure and effective communication is applied over all products
• Responsibility for designated 5s areas to be completed in line with daily/weekly/monthly sign off sheets
• You will work closely with Systems and Electronics engineers to solve real integration problems on complex systems

What you’ll bring

• HND or above, in system, electrical, RF engineering
• A good understand of measurement and test principles, and equipment.
• Understanding and standard working practices of safety precautions.
• Applying statistical process control (SPC) for fault / trend diagnosis within a production environment
• Experience in working in clean rooms - Should have an understanding of working in cleanrooms and the importance of this to the quality of the job with good dexterity and an eye for detail
