Job summary

Gattaca in Ashford, Kent is seeking a Principal Test Development Engineer to lead the development and evolution of automated test solutions for sophisticated electronic and software-based defence products.

You will work with electronics, software and manufacturing teams to shape test strategies, deliver hands-on engineering delivery and mentor engineers in a highly innovative environment.

Qualifications

• Strong practical experience with TestStand and automated functional testing.
• Experience developing applications using LabVIEW.
• Proven background in ATE design, test development or test system support.
• Solid electronics engineering knowledge with the ability to read and understand schematics.
• Experience working within a manufacturing or production environment.
• Hands-on use of electronic test equipment including oscilloscopes, DMMs, signal generators and data acquisition systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development and maintenance of NI-based Automated Test Equipment (ATE)
• Design, develop and verify automated test solutions using TestStand, LabVIEW and FlexStand
• Design test fixtures and commission new test capability for products and subsystems
• Support production-critical test systems and drive continuous improvement initiatives
• Collaborate with design teams to embed Design for Test (DFT) principles into new products
• Mentor and support engineers within the test function
• Develop documentation, processes and long-term test strategies to support manufacturing and new product introduction
