The City of Edinburgh Council is seeking a dynamic Principal Teacher for Longstone Primary School in Edinburgh. The role leads learning and teaching, supports wellbeing and inclusion, and works within our Senior Leadership Team to ensure every child is safe, valued and ready to learn.

Candidates should demonstrate an excellent level of Curriculum for Excellence delivery, close attainment gaps, and experience in leading initiatives, motivating colleagues and empowering leadership at all levels.

Principal Teacher

Hours: 35 per week

Salary: £59,367 per year

We are seeking a dynamic and compassionate Principal Teacherto join our team at Longstone Primary School. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced leader who shares our commitment to nurture, wellbeing and inclusion.

Candidates should be able to demonstrate an excellent level of learning and teaching through Curriculum for Excellence with an understanding of closing the attainment gap. They should also have experience in leading initiatives, motivating colleagues and encouraging leadership at all levels.

Longstone Primary School serves the Longstone Community and part of the Kingsknowe area. The school has a role of 230 and we have a 55 full-time term time capacity within our nursery.

This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. You will be required to provide this check. An unconditional offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre‑employment checks being deemed satisfactory.

Salaries will be in accordance with the Scheme of Salaries and Conditions of Service for Teaching Staff in School Education.
